Mar. 31--The cost of such high-tech gadgetry ranges from a couple of thousand dollars up to six figures.
You're in the airport minutes before boarding a plane and your cell phone rings. It's your house. A delivery man is at the door.
"Leave the package in the receiving box," you say, punching a few numbers into the phone.
The delivery man hears your voice through the intercom. Then, a small door in the entryway magically slides open and then closes and locks after the parcel is left inside.
A week later on the return trip late at night you call your house to turn the lights on, crank the heat up and put on some relaxing music.
"The limits to what can be done are limited only by the homeowner's imagination," said Darren Huddleston of Intelligent Home Automation.
