A two-door, four-seat Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible will arrive in showrooms in early `04.

The Cruiser convertible is important to Chrysler. The automaker responded to media criticism that it didn't have enough supply to meet demand for Cruiser when it came out two years ago by quickly making plans to nearly double capacity to more than 300,000 Cruisers in the next couple of years.

Yet with sales of just less than 150,000 Cruisers last year, it needs a greater number and variety of vehicles to attract enough consumers to justify the planned production increase.
