Monica Lewinsky, the dim echo of political scandals past, wants your sympathy.
During the 100-minute course of "Monica in Black and White," an HBO documentary (10 EST p.m. Sunday), Lewinsky whines, cries, breaks down at least once and blames her lot in life on President Clinton, Linda Tripp, Ken Starr and the media. Everyone, it seems, except Monica Lewinsky herself.
It's a pathetic little performance that feels out of sync with the current state of the American psyche and holds only a smidgen of the frustration it might have just six months ago.
