Tuesday night though, Illinois' All-American junior point guard finally emerged from his hiding place with a dazzling performance that had his teammates and coach Bill Self grinning from ear to ear and left the distinct impression the worst may be over with a 63-61 victory over Michigan State.
Williams made a clutch three-pointer. He ran the offense like he cared. He trash-talked and he patted his teammates on the back. He punched his fist in the air.
