NEW ORLEANS _ The player wearing all black at table number 38 in the large ballroom at the Hilton Riverside has been so blessed, and socursed.

Could Leonard Little's NFLcareer be any better?

He wore a Super Bowl ring in his second NFL season and will collect another Sunday if his St. Louis Rams beat New England as anticipated. His 14-{ sacks this season established the defensive end as an ascending star. As a pending free agent, he is about to cash in.

The first thing you notice is, he hardly smiles.

Could Leonard Little's life be any worse?

He is a 27-year-old professional athlete blossoming into his prime, and he is a man tortured, haunted and hunted by guilt.

``All the time,'' he says. ``And forever.''
