Kemppel is the first U.S. woman to make four Olympic cross-country teams. She has won a record 15 U.S. cross-country titles. She said this would be her final Olympics. Kemppel had the top three World Cup finishes of her career in 2001, including finishing 14th on the Olympic course in January in the 10K pursuit _ her first top-15 finish.
