COLUMBIA, S.C. _ Going to the gym just wasn't working for Germaine Morgan.
"I couldn't take aerobics _ it was boring," said Morgan, 22. "Everyone's in your space at the gym."
About a year ago, Morgan started taking dance classes because she wanted to get some exercise. She found that something she enjoyed as a child could give her a great workout as an adult.
Dance classes aren't just for children. Adults are discovering dance is an activity that is not only fun but a great workout.
"Dance is a great stress reliever, and it's wonderful exercise," said Lisa Wilson, owner and director of Dance World. "You get a workout without realizing you're getting a workout."
About 60 adults, ranging from the late teens to the late 60s, take classes at Dance World, Wilson said.
Some are former dancers; others never have danced. Most are there because they want to get a good workout without having to join a gym.
