For evangelist Tammy Faye Bakker Messner, the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks "awoke something inside of me," urging her to end a self-imposed retirement and go back to work.
"It was like pouring cold water over something that was sleeping," she recalled. "I said I better go out and do what God intended me to do."
Apparently, God intended Tammy Faye to hit the road for a new musical concert tour _ first stop Saturday night at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach.
"I've never been to Miami before," she said in a phone interview from her home in Charlotte, S.C. "I had a church in Orlando for three years, but I've never been further south ... I really enjoyed Orlando. Except for the bugs. They'll nearly carry your bed off."
