GOOD STARTING PITCHING IS A baseball club's most valuable asset. That statement has held true since the game began and it will remain that way for as long as it is played ... at any level.
After all, the pitcher is the one player who can dominate and take control of a game. Position players need the ball to be hit to them. Batters may only get four at-bats in a game and many times might not see the same pitch much less the same pitcher to adjust to his hitting strengths. But a pitcher is the one with the ball, the one who controls the flow of the game.
