No doubt about it, Ducks should be playing for national title.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)
TEMPE, Ariz. _ This was a great semifinal game. Oregon pounded Colorado 38-16 Tuesday in the Fiesta Bowl, and nobody can doubt Oregon now. The Ducks are a fabulous team. They choked off a running game that humiliated Nebraska and Texas. Quarterback Joey Harrington threw four touchdown passes. The Ducks pounded and stomped the hottest team in America.
Now, Oregon deserves to play the winner of Nebraska and Miami in the national championship game. That would be great. That would be fun. That would be just. But, of course, that won't happen. Because this is college football. And there is no championship game. There is no justice.
Instead, we get sniping and lobbying and lots of people rewriting history.
