TEMPE, Ariz. _ There were three minutes left in the Fiesta Bowl, and Oregon fans bounced in the aisles and high-fived in their seats as they vociferously chanted, "We're No. 1."

The cry went unanswered across the field, on the depleted and defeated Colorado side. It was the same mute response the Colorado football team offered for most of the previous 3 three hours.

Second-ranked Oregon rang in the new year by slamming No. 3 Colorado, 38-16, on Tuesday on a cloudless, room-temperature afternoon before 74,118 fans at Sun Devil Stadium.
