JACKSONVILLE _ The Seminoles didn't arrive in Jacksonville last week looking for an ending. They sought a beginning.
Tuesday's Gator Bowl wasn't about sticking a serviceable conclusion on a substandard 2001 season. It was about penning an opening line that would keep observers captivated until the 2002 season:

The Seminoles orchestrated what they hoped will prove a sneak peak for next season in beating Virginia Tech, 30-17, in front of 72,202 fans at Alltel Stadium.
