VANCOUVER, British Columbia _ Jeremy Roenick was thinking wraparound first and centering the puck into the slot second.
"I tried to bring it out, but the puck chipped out to (Simon Gagne)," Roenick said. "I tried to get it to the front of the net. (Gagne's) instincts took him to the right place."
Gagne saw the puck at the right post and flipped it on his backhand over goalie Dan Cloutier with 2.8 seconds left in regulation to give the Flyers a thrilling, 2-1 win over the Canucks at General Motors Place on New Year's Eve.
The five-game western road trip concludes Wednesday night in San Jose when the Flyers face the Sharks. The New Year's Eve victory gave them a 3-1 record on this trip.
