DALLAS _ Third-and-long doesn't give a team very good odds even against ordinary defenses. When it occurs repeatedly against Oklahoma's defense, it's a recipe for pain.

Nine sacks add up to one mighty big headache.

The Sooners set a school record and tied a Cotton Bowl mark by sacking Arkansas quarterbacks Zak Smith and Matt Jones nine times Tuesday.

The Razorbacks credited Oklahoma's athleticism for that total. But they acknowledge they didn't give themselves much of a chance. Arkansas needed an average of 8.9 yards on third down for the afternoon. With passing plays dictated so often, the Sooners teed off.
