_ I know Ohio State lost, 31-28, to South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, but I give Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel high marks for his first season in Columbus. His team seemed destined to be embarrassed, but came back from 28-0 to tie the score. His team showed far more character than many of the previous Buckeye teams have in recent bowl games.
_ At first, I was against Tressel bringing Steve Bellisari back after his drunken-driving arrest, but now I believe he handled the situation perfectly. Bellisari missed Senior Day and missed the Michigan game. He was completely humiliated, and also had to endure the legal consequences he created for himself.
Tressel allowed the quarterback to stay close to the team, and because Bellisari offered sincere apologies and no excuses, he was allowed to play Tuesday. Tressel showed both discipline and compassion in this case, and that's not easy to pull off.
