ENGLEWOOD, Colo. _ When the NFL announces this season's Pro Bowl selections on Wednesday, Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan doesn't expect much. Not with the Broncos out of the playoff race at 8-7, going nowhere this postseason.
"That's part of it," Shanahan said Monday. "That's part of being in the Pro Bowl. A guy usually is rewarded not only for having a great year, but also for winning. That's just the nature of the Pro Bowl ballot."
There is one player on the Broncos' roster, however, who should earn recognition for his remarkable season, even if the team was 0-15. "I think Rod (Smith), obviously, has had that kind of a season," Shanahan said.
