DETROIT _ If you didn't know better, you would think the three of them _ Marty Mornhinweg, Charlie Batch and Jim Harbaugh _ were connected by an invisible tether.
Mornhinweg is laying the foundation for the West Coast offense in the Lions' minicamp at the Silverdome, and he's seldom more than a few feet from his quarterbacks.
"It's kind of like a magnet with me," Mornhinweg said Friday, laughing.
Mornhinweg has been the head coach barely four months, but he has brought a new style to the Lions.
Whether they're involved in individual drills, seven-on-sevens or the team phase of the workouts, Mornhinweg is always there _ hands on, directing, observing, instructing and, if necessary, correcting.
"And he'll get on our (butt) too," Harbaugh said. "Miss a pass, and he knows. He knows what a quarterback is supposed to be able to do and not do. He doesn't sugarcoat it, put it that way.
"He wants all the balls caught and all the balls completed, but he's having some fun out there, too."
