OnePages continues its monthly Tributes (advance obits) with a look at the career of newsman Walter Cronkite.
As the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" from 1962 to 1981, Cronkite set the standard for accuracy, fairness and dependability. He guided viewers through some of the most significant events of the 20th century, including the civil rights struggles in the South and man's first walk on the moon.
KRT examines Cronkite's life in a broadsheet OnePage, featuring an appreciation from Lee Winfrey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The page will be posted Friday, June 1, on KRT Direct and NewsCom-PressLink and is embargoed for publication until Cronkite's death.
All 12 new Tributes for 2001 are available by subscription or on a spot-sales basis. The Cronkite Tribute joins the list of previously posted, ready-to-publish pages, including those on Billy Graham, Ronald Reagan, Katharine Hepburn, Pope John Paul II, Rosa Parks and Ted Williams.
