Fashion often eludes me. Take this summer. This was the season I was going to study the fashion advice and shop with an eye toward being "in."
I picked the wrong season!
I read an article on the Internet that said the look this summer is "urban guerrilla." Shopping for groceries in urban guerrilla? I don't think so. Why would anyone need camouflage to buy onions and potatoes?
My more fashionable friend told me it's "a look." A look can be in style anywhere.
I preferred to think it was just an Internet site that didn't really reflect the total fashion thinking. So I watched ``Fashion Emergency'' on the E! channel. They were saying it, too: Camouflage is going to be big, but lace can be added to the wardrobe to give it a softer touch.
Somehow, I don't think this is the fashion statement I want to make with my lifestyle _ camouflage isn't going to make the same impact in the twilight movie line in Dallas as it does in a club in New York City. And just where on those camouflage cargo pants does the lace fit in?
"The lace goes along with the camouflage," my friend said, "and in the evening to have a real change." I shrugged my shoulders and laughed. I'm not a real big lace person.
