LA JOLLA, CALIF. - If you' researching for better ways to develop and maintain a rapport with your patients, consider asking them to tell you the story of their name, the Rev. Daniel Meyer suggested at a conference on superficial anatomy and cutaneous surgery.
"If you're anything like me--seeing person after person day after day--it's difficult sometimes to do more than just catch your breath as you run into the next encounter, said Rev. Meyer, who leads a 5,200-member nondenominational church outside of Chicago. He explained that almost every person's name has a story behind it and used his own name as an example.
