NEW ORLEANS -- Cerclage placement does not appear to improve perinatal outcome in patients with multiple gestation who show sonographic evidence of cervical changes at midtrimester, Dr. Orion Rust reported at the annual meeting of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
A total of 24 patients with multiple gestations were randomly assigned to cerclage (10 patients) or no cerclage (14 patients) following admission at 16-24 weeks' gestation.
