Illinois state bar is fighting do-it-yourself law forms.(Chicago Tribune)

CHICAGO _ The sign outside Steven Tracy's store in Crystal Lake tells customers he can help them get a divorce, write a will, file for bankruptcy or change their name for under $400. And business is good.

So good that Tracy, an unassuming man but not a lawyer, has caught the attention and wrath of the Illinois State Bar Association.

The bar association, along with a doctor who sought Tracy's help to get a divorce, has sued Tracy and We the People Forms & Service Center of Crystal Lake Inc. for practicing law without a license and consumer fraud. In essence, the bar association is taking on a growing do-it-yourself movement in which people bypass lawyers and head to court by themselves by filling out blank legal forms for uncontested legal matters.
