You've heard that argument that the Williams sisters and the whole top of today's women's tennis field would wipe out Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova in their primes?

Bull.

Evert would pound balls back at Venus and Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati, Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles and the rest of today's top women until the more-moderns think they're seeing quadruple.

And Navratilova would serve-and-volley them all to death.

Granted, the depth of today's talent would swallow that of Evert/Navratilova eras from the early 1970s through the late `80s. But even to dream of any of these players hammering Evert and Navratilova in E&N's prime is ludicrous.

Chrissie and Martina did their great stuff with "old" equipment. They would be greater still with this high-tech racketry.

But even that couldn't help Capriati on Saturday.
