Attorney General Richard Blumenthal moved to block the planned merger of Consolidated Edison and Connecticut-based Northeast Utilities merger by filling an appeal to the Superior Court of New Britain. Previously, the New York Public Service Commission approved the merger of Consolidated Edison and Northeast Utilities, but put new profit limits on the proposed merged operation in November.

Blumenthal, in opposing the merger, said, "This extraordinary court action is necessary to save Connecticut from Con Ed. ConEd seeks to impose its chronic mismanagement and contempt for customers and working people, endangering our economy, environment and consumers. The …
