DETROIT _ George Irvine turned 53 on Thursday.
His wife, Jeanie, knew just what he wanted for his birthday meal: tacos.
"This isn't a knock on George," she said, "but he's a Blazer-tacos kind of guy rather than Jaguar-caviar. He's had the fancy cars, been on private planes and had the caviar, but he's a down-to-earth person and is passionate about his family.
"His family is the most important thing to him."
Winning basketball games also is a high priority, but Irvine and the Pistons haven't done much of that lately. They take a 17-29 record into tonight's game against the Boston Celtics, with 11 losses in their last 14 games.
As frustrating as the season has been at the Palace, though, Irvine has a strong family life to draw strength from, helping him get through the trying times.
