MIAMI _ In the midst of a forgettable season, Don MacLean now must hope that Pat Riley remembers him.
While the veteran forward missed time with a hamstring injury, toe surgery and a five-game league suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, the Heat coach seemed to settle on an eight-man rotation. That rotation _ which includes Dan Majerle, A.C. Green and either Anthony Carter or Eddie House off the bench _ does not currently include Cedric Ceballos or Duane Causwell, either.
"We're winning right now," Riley said. "Guys are going to have to be in great shape, and they're going to have to just bide their time."
So the rotation probably won't include MacLean immediately, though he will travel and be in uniform for Tuesday night's game.
"The problem is I've gotten way behind," MacLean said, citing his conditioning. "I'm not really expecting to play, but I'm ready to play."
MacLean said his surgically repaired toe won't completely heal until after the season.
"This season for me personally and individually has been a disaster," MacLean said. "I'm not in any position to say I need minutes. I'm going to get in the best shape I can so that if somebody else goes down that is ...
