ORLANDO, Fla. _ Michigan's secondary had a record day.
Only it wasn't records they earned, but ones they gave up.
Auburn and quarterback Ben Leard set a school record for passing yards in a bowl game with 394. Leard's three touchdown passes also were a bowl record.
Auburn wide receiver Ronney Daniels had seven receptions, which was the fourth-most for a Tiger in a bowl game.
Halfback Clifton Robinson had a 32-yard reception in the second quarter, which tied his longest of the season. Robinson had 52 receiving yards in the first half, which was a season high.
With some luck and Auburn's own mistakes, the records and final passing statistics might have looked a whole lot worse for the Michigan secondary.
Michigan was playing in a soft zone coverage, but it also was missing cornerback James Whitley, who was suspended following an arrest for gun possession.
