Tribune college football writer Andrew Bagnato handicaps the 2000 Big Ten race:

1. Wisconsin.

The Badgers won four Big Ten titles from 1907 to 1992. They go into this season looking for their fourth in eight years. If that isn't the most amazing turnaround in major-college history, it has to be close.

Player to watch: quarterback Brooks Bollinger. Key game: at Michigan Sept. 30. NCAA graduation rate: 60 percent.

2. Michigan

The Wolverines won the last Orange Bowl; with a few breaks, they could wind up back in Miami Jan. 3. Lloyd Carr has won 49 games in his first five years. That's one more than Bo Schembechler did in his first five _ and the Big Ten is a lot tougher now than it …
