CHICAGO _ The Chicago Tribune announced several major editorial and executive level changes Thursday.

Howard A. Tyner, editor and vice president of the Chicago Tribune, has been appointed senior vice president and editor, with primary responsibility as the group editor of Tribune's 11 daily newspapers, according to Scott C. Smith, president and publisher of the Chicago Tribune.

Ann Marie Lipinski, managing editor of the Tribune since 1995, has been appointed vice president and executive editor. The appointments are effective immediately.
