CHICAGO _ Another top African marathoner has become the victim of a carjacking.

Ondoro Osoro, the 1998 LaSalle Banks Chicago Marathon champion selected last weekend to run the Olympic marathon for Kenya, was shot in the neck Sunday by car thieves as he drove with members of his family near his home in Nakuru. He was listed in stable condition by officials of Nakuru's Baraka Hospital, where he had been admitted.

His wife and daughter were listed in fair condition. Osoro, 31, who finished third in the 1999 Chicago Marathon and fourth in the 2000 Boston Marathon, said from his hospital bed that he still hoped to run in the Olympics.
