A BRAND-NEW IMAX theater just opened in Dublin and its first show is ``Michael Jordan to the MAX.'' Ten times a day, the 6-foot-6 Jordan is shown running and jumping and dunking in all his glory on a six-story screen.

It doesn't seem to amaze anybody that Jordan is a huge attraction despite the fact he has been retired for two years. Apparently, this is not as surprising as the drop in the NBA's television ratings the past two years given the ``our top story tonight'' way in which those ratings have been reported.

Jordan has been, and will continue to be for some time, the world's most popular basketball player. That's whether he plays or not.
