Feb. 24--Robert Beatty, a civic leader who recently was called "the conscience of our town" by a local magazine, has been named The Herald's general counsel and vice president for public affairs.
In announcing the appointment, Publisher Alberto Ibarguen said Beatty will "bring the kind of thoughtfulness combined with aggressiveness that is a perfect combination for an executive of this newspaper."
Beatty, 48, replaces Sam Terilli, who is leaving The Herald to join the Miami office of Ford & Harrison, a national law firm.
