Sep. 22 -- Cahners Business Information chief executive Bruce Barnet stepped down from the Newton trade publisher last week, apparently under pressure from the company's British-Dutch parent.
Like other trade publishers, Cahners has faced big profit declines recently because of growing competition from Internet-based media. Last month, Cahners said it would restructure and lay off 300 people, mostly at operations in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
