Carnegie Mellon's Intelligent Workplace consumes one third the energy of comparable workplaces
PITTSBURGH--Carnegie Mellon University unveiled the Robert L. Preger Intelligent Workplace in December 1997, a 7,000-square foot rooftop extension to an existing building on its campus (EUN, April 1998). Billed as the "office of the future," it was designed to consume just one-third the energy of comparable workspaces by using the latest in energy-efficient building design and technology. Today, the Intelligent Workplace is meeting expectations by doing just that.
