Aldo Leopold articulated a new way to look at the land and its creatures

On april 14, 1948, Aldo Leopold learned that a collection of his essays about nature and conservation had been accepted for publication by Oxford University Press. His daughter Nina Bradley remembers he was thrilled. "He'd been on a Presidential commission, but that wasn't as big a thing as getting the book accepted." The working title was Great Possessions, but it was published the following year as A Sand County Almanac.
