May 2--ADVANCED FIBRE OPENS SUNRISE OFFICE: Advanced Fibre Communications, a California-based manufacturer of telecommunications systems, said it opened an engineering facility in Sunrise this week. The company employs 15 people in temporary quarters, but hopes to grow to 50 employees by the end of 1998. A spokeswoman said Advanced Fibre, which had 1997 revenues of $267 million, is looking for permanent space in Broward County.
The Broward facility will focus on digital broadband services. It is Advanced Fibre's third remote engineering facility.
