Oct. 22--A Cleveland-based real estate investment trust hopes to buy a majority interest in the Omni Kansas City Hotel at 1301 Wyandotte St.

The current owner of the hotel, 13th & Wyandotte LLC, on Monday said it had reached a tentative agreement to sell 80 percent of its ownership to Boykin Lodging Co.

Boykin intends to turn the 388-room hotel into a Doubletree.

The sale, expected to be completed by the end of October, would occur only months after the Omni opened for business. The current ownership group spent about two years gutting and renovating the structure.
