Oct. 2--A mammoth empty shell of a building on Watt Avenue will be transformed into a giant Christmas present for North Highlands -- with hundreds of jobs tucked inside -- under a deal that closed this week.

The Money Store, which seems to have more offices in Sacramento than it has loan programs, will move 300 employees into the old Price Club warehouse store by Christmas and expects to have up to 600 people working there by next summer.

Sacramento County officials hailed the Money Store deal Wednesday, calling it a huge economic and symbolic boost for the beleaguered North Highlands area, which lost about 200 jobs when the Price Club closed last …
