Sep. 27--Food Lion said Thursday it will begin store-closing inventory liquidation sales this weekend, with discounts in all categories.

The Salisbury, N.C.-based company said the stores' inventories are being liquidated as part of the previously announced closings of all 48 of its Texas stores, eight in Oklahoma and five in Louisiana.

But two Texas stores, one in Seagoville near Dallas and one in Longview in Northeast Texas, will stay open temporarily while negotiations continue for the sale of the company's assets at each store and rights to the locations, Food Lion said.
