Sep. 1--Dunbrooke, an apparel maker with headquarters in Independence, has agreed to purchase Westark Garment Manufacturing Inc. of Fort Smith, Ark.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. The deal is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter.

Westark, with 450 employees, makes jackets and other sportswear for sale by screenprinters, ad specialty distributors and sporting goods retailers. It has plants in Arkansas and Missouri. Westark will operate as a separate division of Dunbrooke.
