Jun. 3--There may be a new twist in Starbucks Corp.'s bumpy effort to find an acceptable site in the Tower District for one of its coffeehouses.
Karen Harlow, owner of Karen's Keepsakes in the heart of Fresno's entertainment district, said she was contacted by a San Francisco real estate company last month about selling her store lease before it expires.
Harlow said she refused to sell.
Karen's Keepsakes is at the southeast corner of Olive and Yosemite avenues, across the street from the Blockbuster Video parking lot where Starbucks had originally planned to build its first Fresno coffeehouse.
Harlow said the offer was made by Robert Kashian, a real estate agent with Epsteen & Associates, who declined to reveal his client's identity to her.
Harlow said she thinks Kashian is representing Starbucks.
Kashian, son of Fresno commercial developer Ed Kashian, said he cannot identify his client. However, he did say Epsteen & Associates is an exclusive site selector for Starbucks and Noah's New York Bagels.
