TACOMA, Wash.--Jun. 3--Pierce County's newest bank, set to open in the fall, will have no tellers.
Nor will it have a drive-through nor a traditional banking hall.
The reason: Pierce Commercial Bank will go to its clients, rather than have its clients come to it.
"We will not have tellers because 95 percent of our clients probably will never come to the bank," says J.D. Hendrickson, CEO of Pierce Commercial. "We will provide private, bonded courier service that will go to their place of business to take the deposits."
Should clients want to visit Pierce Commercial, facilities will be available for them to make deposits or cash checks, Hendrickson adds.
"But we will not have the overhead of employing extra staff for teller functions. All of our employees -- who will total seven, including myself and Pat York, who is chief financial officer -- will each have an active portfolio of clients."
Also, the bank will not be limited to serving the immediate area in the vicinity of the branch, Hendrickson adds.
