* School board candidates for rapidly growing area consider issues of safety, tax increases

Two new middle schools and an elementary school won't be adequate to solve overcrowding on the West Side, according to school board candidates seeking to represent the area.

And at least three say they would be willing to ask voters to support a property tax increase to speed up construction of additional schools.

"The bottom line is, there are not enough schools on the West Side," said Pauline Garcia, one of six candidates running for the Albuquerque Public Schools District 2 seat.
