May 1--A new radio commercial by opponents of Blue Grass Airport's expansion plans ominously states that a new runway would "destroy several horse farms and thousands of homes."

Urban County Councilwoman Gloria Martin -- during a debate on the new runway earlier this week -- implied that a new runway could require the condemnation of the county's newest high school and posh subdivisions such as Firebrook and Palomar Hills.

Those are two of the most attention-grabbing recent entries in the ongoing war of words over a proposal to build a 9,000-foot runway at Blue Grass Airport.

But airport officials say such arguments are simply "absurd."
