May 1--The letters just wouldn't stop. From Pembroke Pines to Fort Lauderdale, hundreds of Hispanics in Broward County wrote Sedano's Supermarkets asking the company to build a store they could reach within an hour's drive.

"We finally went ahead, and for the past two years, Sedano's of Hollywood has had a meteoric growth," said Leo Cuervo, Sedano's operations director.

The success of the Hollywood pharmacy and food store, at U.S. 441 and Sheridan Street, took even Sedano's executives by surprise.
