Apr. 25--The Spanish city of Murcia was founded in 223 B.C. and boasts Roman ruins, but city fathers say it really has a lot in common with Miami, a sister city whose roots date back only 100 years.

They're similar in climate; their people reflect a melding of cultures; the two seaside cities are both tourism centers; and they're both known as shopping cities.

This week, an official delegation led by Mayor Miguel Angel Camara Botia is celebrating "Murcia in Miami Week" and hoping those connections will make for good business.

Nearly two dozen companies from the Murcia region are displaying the best they have to offer, from wine and caviar to handcrafted Nativity sets and artichokes, at the 18th Hemispheric …
