Mattress Maker Select Comfort Corp. Plans Plant in Columbia, S.C.(Originated from The State, Columbia, S.C.)
Apr. 10--Select Comfort Corp., one of the nation's leading mattress companies, will open a manufacturing and distribution center in northwest Columbia that is expected to create 225 jobs, the company said Wednesday.
Initially, it will employ 70 people in the former BellSouth building near Irmo in the manufacture and distribution of its "sleep systems," or the combination of a mattress and matching foundation.
The 105,000-square-foot facility is the company's first plant expansion beyond its Minneapolis headquarters.
A formal grand opening is scheduled for Friday.
