    WASHINGTON _ Teen-agers who experiment with alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana are far more likely than other youths to dive into the world of cocaine and other illegal drugs, researchers at Columbia University said in a study released Thursday. 
    Their conclusions were based on a fresh analysis of data gathered in the 1991 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse _ door-to-door interviews in more than 30,000 households conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. 
    Among the surveyed 12- to 17-year-olds who said they had experimented with all three ``gateway'' substances, 18.6 percent said they had tried cocaine. But among those who said they had never used any of the
