Bread and Bagel Store Sold Week Ago
There was never a Fred behind Fred's Bread and Bagel. There was Aaron Hendon.
But Hendon, owner and chief baker, finalized the sale of the bakery last week for $140,000 to Steve and Heather Boulier of Shadow Mountain Bakery. The Bouliers take over next week.
When Hendon opened the bread and bagel shop in 1991, he introduced Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos to his award-winning green chile cheese bread. The bakery and cafe at 3009 Central NE has had $1 million in annual sales. Its breads, bagels and pastries are sold at restaurants and specialty stores throughout the state and through Sunset magazine.
