    Bosses of seven major tobacco companies went before a House subcommittee and swore that the dope they sell isn't really addictive. They said cigarettes are merely a casual indulgence, like soft drinks or ice cream. 
    Listen to William Campbell, president of Philip Morris: ``I have a common-sense definition of addiction. I'm a smoker and I'm not a drug addict.'' 
    Spoken like a true junkie. Yeah, I shoot a little smack. But I'm not hooked! It's called denial. 
    Practically everyone who smokes knows that nicotine can be powerfully addictive. Now, finally, the FDA is considering regulating cigarettes the same way it regulates prescription drugs.
